Expert Days

Our Expert Days are designed to offer support with every aspect of your improvement journey. Our Academy Programmes are flexible so that you can use them in the way that will be most efficient and effective for you and your business. They can provide help in getting started, tips and tricks along the way, or train the trainers within your business. Expert days are generally run in a workshop style, and are always a hands-on experience, following our philosophy of ‘learning whilst doing’.

Introduction to Business Improvement

This is the starting point for you and your colleagues – it explains why Business Improvement is such an important part of our daily working lives. It covers the history of improvement with particular emphasis on Lean thinking. It also includes some useful tips on change management to help you prepare for the inevitable change that your business improvement activities will bring.

Work & Waste

This is possibly the most important of all our Teachpoints in terms of delivering results fast, because driving out process waste improves productivity, reduces cost and increases profit. The Teachpoint demonstrates a whole new way to view work processes – which we call ‘becoming sighted’. By sighted we mean the ability to see the waste that exists in many work activities. Work & Waste allows your staff to view work as they have never seen it before and helps to develop a sense of urgency to make changes for the better.

Perfomance Measures & Data Analysis

This Teachpoint will help you and your colleagues to install a measurement system within your business, that will help you to identify critical areas for improvement and give everyone the skills to understand exactly what is going wrong and, importantly, how to put it right. This technique demonstrates how using data and facts as decision making tools at a strategic level can help management teams to improve what they do.

Workplace Organisation

5S or workplace organisation is a key technique in supporting the change process. It’s all about creating a more safe, stable and efficient working environment, where tools, materials and information can easily be found by anyone at any time, making your workplace both improvement-ready and an environment that you, your colleagues and indeed your clients can be proud of. 5S is often described as the easiest and hardest of the improvement tools to use, and this Teachpoint is designed to help you implement a clear plan, avoid common pitfalls, and sustain the standard that you achieve.

Collaborative Planning

This is a key improvement tool for construction, it will help project teams create a better and more collaborative working relationship with suppliers, as well as helping them to identify areas for improvement and making sure these improvements are planned into the project from the outset. Put simply, collaborative planning utilises the skills and experience of managers and suppliers to develop the best method and sequence of construction.
